$10,000 Goal

New for 2023 - $5000 matching grant. We will earn 100% of the donation once we have raised $5000 in 2023 NTX Giving Day

Skateparks for Dallas began in 2017, as a project of Dr. Clinton Haley, a long time Dallas resident. Clinton noticed, spurred by his young son's interest in skateboarding, that there were no concrete skateparks in the city of Dallas, while all of our suburban neighbors, Frisco, Plan, Lewisville, Arlington, etc. had invested in amazing facilities that were amongst the most popular parks & recs amenities in the entire city.

ACCOMPLISHMENTS

  • Flagship Bachman Skatepark funded for $4M on the 2017 Bond
  • Flagship Bachman Skatepark design completed by prominent national design firm, December 2022
  • Construction contract set to be awarded soon
  • Bachman Skatepark Grand Opening 2024
  • Garland Skatepark Grand Opening October 2022
  • Oak Cliff Skatepark project with initial design December 2022

Clinton, worked with Dallas City Council and Dallas Parks & Recreation was able to have a flagship skatepark added to the 2017 Bond Election, and skateparks for Dallas was up and running.  Visit SkateparksforDallas.org or instagram @skateparksfordallas for more info.

PROJECTS

  1. Oak Cliff Skatepark at Westmoreland Park. We have access to a matching grant from the city, so every dollar we raise towards the $800,000 construction cost will be matched by the city. Visit Skateparks for Dallas to see the preliminary design. This is a very positive community development opportunity as it is DART accessible, near schools, and will help activate the park.
  2. Update the pre-fab skatepark at Lakeland Hills to permanent and low maintenance concrete. This park is known affectionally by the community as St. Francis skatepark because its on St. Francis road. This is a super popular park, beloved by its neighbors and skateboarders alike.
  3. Collaboratively with Friends of Bachman Lake and DISD to secure programming at Bachman Lake skateparks for neighborhood kids.  There are 10 elementary schools in the Bachman area and it is one of the youngest areas of our city. Bachman Lake is a true gem of the city, with significant investments in DART rail, trails, and the new regional aquatic center, Bachman Lake is truly the heart of the city.
