Funds raised through the North Texas Giving Day will support the charitable activities of the Dallas Sierra Club, whose mission is to explore, enjoy and protect the planet; to practice and promote the responsible use of the earth's ecosystems and resources; to educate and enlist humanity to protect and restore the quality of the natural and human environment; and to use all lawful means to carry out those objectives.
Funds to sponsor participation in and transportation to educational environmental events, including lectures, movies, discussion groups, and testimony to government and corporate decision makers. Our volunteers champion environmental issues, lead community educational workshops, and lead inter-city environmental outings for disadvantaged students.
The Sierra Club Foundation promotes efforts to educate and empower people to protect and improve the natural and human environment and is the 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor for the Dallas Sierra Club's charitable programs,
Besides the work we at the Dallas Sierra Club, we also support small grassroots advocates in their individual towns and communities by helping them with their group’s organization, social media, and financial needs
Sierra Club, both on a national and state level, has long nursed the narrative that environmental issues are public health issues. This is true. However, it is an incomplete truth if we do not also fully and consistently acknowledge that racism is an issue of the environment and health.
Racism is itself a public health crisis. Racism is the root of persistent systemic discrimination in every aspect of society, including in health care, housing, education, employment and criminal justice- all of which are important determining factors in our quality of life, mental health, and physical wellbeing.
