Shepherd Inn Transitional Housing provides no-cost and low-cost recovery housing, wraparound services, and workforce development for individuals and families rebuilding their lives after addiction, trauma, and housing instability.
For many people leaving addiction treatment, incarceration, or another structured environment, the first days back in the community can determine what happens next. They may be committed to rebuilding their lives but leave with no job, no income, no safe housing, and little or no family support. Without immediate help, the risk of homelessness, relapse, or returning to incarceration is incredibly high.
Shepherd Inn exists to fill this critical gap.
Through our Stabilization Phase, individuals and families receive 15 to 100 days of support at no cost. This includes housing, food assistance, case management, financial planning, transportation assistance, recovery support, and help meeting basic needs. Our goal is to give each person the time and structure needed to find employment, establish healthy routines, meet legal obligations, and prepare for long term stability.
Our homes provide a peaceful, recovery focused environment while keeping residents close to probation and parole offices, CPS offices, recovery meetings, employment opportunities, medical care, and public transportation. Instead of being released with nowhere safe to go, each person has a supportive community and a real opportunity to move forward.
This need has grown significantly with our recent purchase of a 16 unit apartment complex in Dallas from another nonprofit organization. The property allowed Shepherd Inn to preserve much needed housing and expand our ability to serve adults and children. It also increased the number of residents who may need Stabilization Phase assistance before they can begin contributing toward their housing costs.
In Corsicana, we are expanding our recovery campus by building five additional cottages on our Northwood Boulevard property. Shepherd Inn is currently the only nonprofit addiction recovery housing provider in Navarro County, leaving individuals and families with very limited local options when they are ready to begin recovery. Once completed, these cottages will allow us to welcome more people close to their families, employment opportunities, recovery meetings, and other essential support systems.
Shepherd Inn now operates 111 beds for adults and children across Dallas and Corsicana. Our homes remain consistently near capacity, and we receive applications every week from people who are ready to change their lives but do not have the resources to begin.
