SheNYC Arts is a femme-led nonprofit organization fighting for gender equity in the arts & entertainment industry across the United States.
Our mission is to prove that there is no reason for male artists to have the overwhelming majority of professionally produced work on Broadway, off-Broadway, and around the country. We work granularly to break down the “pipeline issue” of gender inequity in our industry, and showcase the talents of writers, composers, producers, directors, and other theater artists who are part of a marginalized gender group, including cis women, trans, and non-binary people..
We are raising funds that will go directly to our inaugural SheDFW festival in September 2024. All donations will benefit the 3 productions chosen to perform in the festival.
As theater-makers, we hold ourselves accountable to practices that will ensure that SheDFW is an inclusive, diverse, equitable, and actively anti-racist organization, both on-stage and off. You will see the same diversity on the audition team that we hope to see on-stage. We will charge our directors to be diversity conscious in their casting. We will strive to make the audition room a safe space for all, regardless of age, race, color, gender identity, disability, religion, veteran status, national origin, or sexual orientation. We welcome you.
