Founded in 2004 by Dr. Daniel Prescott Jr., Services of Hope is a Dallas-based nonprofit dedicated to helping individuals and families overcome poverty, housing instability, food insecurity, and financial hardship. Built on the belief that lasting change requires a holistic approach, Services of Hope provides support in the areas of food security, housing stability, financial literacy, and workforce readiness so families can move from crisis to long-term stability.

The economic environment families face in 2026 has created growing instability across North Texas. Rising housing costs, inflation, increased utility expenses, food insecurity, and reduced household savings have placed many working families, seniors, and individuals back into crisis situations similar to the challenges experienced during COVID-19. Services of Hope is seeing more families living paycheck to paycheck, struggling to maintain stable housing, and facing difficult decisions between paying rent, utilities, groceries, or medical expenses. Demand for food assistance, emergency support, and housing counseling continues to rise as more families seek help for the first time.

For more than two decades, Services of Hope has responded to these challenges by serving thousands of families through mobile food distributions, pantry services, emergency assistance, and educational programs designed to restore hope and create pathways to self-sufficiency. Through multiple food pantry locations and partnerships with local grocery stores and community organizations, families receive access to nutritious food with dignity and compassion.

Housing stability remains one of the core priorities of our mission. Services of Hope provides rental and utility assistance to help prevent homelessness, along with housing counseling and financial coaching to help families create long-term financial stability. Our HUD-certified counselors work one-on-one with individuals and families to address budgeting, debt reduction, credit improvement, foreclosure prevention, and long-term financial planning.

Services of Hope also offers First-Time Homebuyer Education Classes that empower families to achieve the dream of homeownership. These classes provide guidance on credit readiness, budgeting, mortgage preparation, down payment assistance programs, and the overall homebuying process. By equipping participants with practical tools and financial education, we help families build generational wealth and long-term housing stability.

In addition, Services of Hope provides education and counseling related to the HECM (Home Equity Conversion Mortgage) Program for senior homeowners. Through this program, seniors receive counseling and guidance on how to safely access the equity in their homes to improve financial stability, remain in their homes longer, manage medical or living expenses, and maintain independence during retirement. Our counseling process focuses on financial education, informed decision-making, and protecting seniors from predatory lending practices while helping them understand all available options regarding home equity and retirement security.

Emergency financial assistance is also available for critical needs such as rent, mortgage payments, and utilities, helping families remain safe and secure during difficult times.

With a dedicated team, strong community partnerships, and a commitment to transparency and accountability, Services of Hope continues to make a lasting impact throughout Dallas and surrounding communities. Every meal served, every class taught, every senior counseled, and every family assisted represents another step toward building stronger, healthier, and more resilient communities filled with hope.

Giving Activity

Mission

The mission of Services of Hope is to transform lives of low to moderate income families through wrap-around social, financial education/literacy, and workforce development services.

Needs

Services of Hope is dedicated to addressing the critical needs of low-income families in North Texas, particularly those in food deserts or facing mobility challenges due to disability or age. Many communities lack affordable access to fresh produce, exacerbating health disparities among vulnerable populations. To meet this urgent need, Services of Hope seeks to acquire a new box truck, a walk-in freezer, and wraps for our current food transportation fleet. This initiative aims to bypass transportation barriers and deliver nutritious options directly to those most in need. By improving access to healthy food, we empower families to make nutritious choices, enhancing overall health and wellness outcomes. Your support in raising funds for this refrigerated truck will directly impact underserved communities, promoting equity in access to vital nutrition. Together, we can combat food insecurity and foster a healthier future for all.

Equity Statement

At Services of Hope, we're committed to addressing social impacts on low-income communities, particularly communities of color in North Texas. Diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice are core values guiding our actions to build resilient communities. As a leading nonprofit in our field, we are dedicated to amplifying the voices, ideas, and solutions of individuals from North Texas's most vulnerable communities. We recognize the importance of including diverse voices in solving community challenges. We acknowledge historical exclusions, especially of people of color, and are dedicated to promoting equity across all our initiatives. Our goal is to dismantle barriers and biases that perpetuate exclusion, fostering an inclusive environment that values all perspectives. Through our programs and partnerships, we actively engage with underrepresented communities to co-create impactful solutions and ensure our organization reflects the diversity we serve.
