Roam Wild is a North Texas nonprofit that provides youth ages 12-18 with outdoor adventures across Texas and the Southwest. We offer single and multi-day excursions that include activities such as canoeing, kayaking, rafting, rock climbing, hiking, backpacking, fishing, biking, and more. Each trip is led by experienced guides passionate about the outdoors and working with youth. What sets us apart from other outdoor adventure groups is our commitment to removing any/all financial barriers typically associated with these types of experiences—families pay what they can afford, no questions.

Through these adventures and the self-discovery that takes place during such experiences, our campers forge an understanding of themselves, others, and their connection to nature. Program participants return from trips with a boosted self-confidence—a result of our research-backed SEL curriculum—and a committed passion to act as stewards for others and the environment. They are prepared to tackle the big issues of the day, leading the work as critical thinkers and collaborators.

Equity Statement

We believe every young person deserves the chance to stand beneath a vast night sky, paddle a wild river, and hear their own heartbeat in the stillness of the outdoors. These moments change lives — but too often, access to wild places is blocked by financial, social, or cultural barriers.

At Roam Wild Adventures, we break down those barriers. Our trips bring together youth from diverse backgrounds, creating bonds of trust, respect, and friendship that last far beyond the trail. These connections, made at a pivotal time in life, shape how a young person sees themselves and values others for years to come.

When we equip a teenager with the gear, guidance, and safe passage to adventure, we’re doing more than getting them outside — we’re empowering them to discover confidence, resilience, and belonging in a world that needs their leadership.

Through meaningful, adventure-based experiences youth from different backgrounds can connect across lines of difference to create powerful, lasting relationships.

Bonds that are created across lines of difference at an early age, at a pivotal time in a child’s life, will have positive, lasting effects on how that child interacts with and values people unlike themselves later in life.
