As a Texan, it's important to know that we have work to do when it comes to addressing sex trafficking. By partnering with Refuge for Women, you can be a part of the solution and help restore those who have been victimized. Together, we can make a difference and create stronger, safer communities for everyone.

REFUGE FOR WOMEN NORTH TEXAS provides a place of escape, safety, hope, healing, and restoration for women who have escaped sex trafficking or sexual exploitation.  Our non-profit, faith-based organization, offers up to two years of a specialized continuum of care at no charge to the residents.  Residents progress through nationally recognized, evidence-based, trauma-informed programming, with around-the-clock staffing. The trained, compassionate staff support residents as they work to reclaim their identities and reach their goals: overcoming addictions, healing from trauma, developing life skills, establishing support networks, living with healthy rhythms of life, and attaining financial independence. Refuge for Women strives to help each woman complete the program with a vision for her future, equipped to succeed and sustain a life marked with dignity and hope.

Our Needs

$900,000 is needed to operate our program on a yearly basis. This budget provides a comfortable home-like environment for our residents with 24-hour staffing and trauma-informed care. The program is given to our residents at no cost to them. Our organization is completely funded through donations.

Mission

Our mission is to empower sexually exploited women to live a life of freedom through faith-based, residential healing programs. Our vision is for every woman that is sexually exploited to have the hope, support, and tools needed to pursue her dreams and live a life of freedom.

WE VALUE:

1. Safety • Each resident is accepted, loved and given a pathway to a better life.

2. Healing • Trained, loving personnel support residents on their path of holistic healing and empowerment with life and job skills for a successful future.

3. Growth • Creating more space across the United States for survivors to have long term care with a commitment to high quality, effective programming.

4. Faith • Christ-centered with opportunities for spiritual growth.

Needs

We must open an emergency house here in North Texas. There are simply not enough beds to support the number of women who are in crisis and need an immediate place to escape and stabilize in our North Texas area. In addition, when law enforcement, hospitals, or other agencies reach out with a woman in a crisis situation, there are currently a limited number of beds available specifically for victims of trafficking.

Emergency housing provides:

•Immediate shelter

•24/7 onsite staff support

•Basic needs assistance

•Medical care

•Psychosocial and therapeutic support

•Substance abuse treatment

•Targeted casework

This service is provided for 30-90 days with the goal of helping the woman stabilize so she can then progress into the long-term program if she chooses.

The Emergency Housing program provides emergency, non-conditional, temporary shelter to women and provides them access to multi-sector services.

This endeavor will double our current operating budget and allow us to sustain the continuum of care of Emergency Housing, Long-Term Housing, and Transitional Living.

Our goal is to have this emergency home open in the next 18 months. Our greatest need is to connect with foundations, businesses, churches, and individuals who want to lock arms with us in achieving this goal.
