Moving Resources Toward Reconciliation and Restoration

Strong communities depend on strong nonprofits. But behind every nonprofit is a leader carrying the responsibility of serving people, solving problems, building trust, and keeping the work moving forward, often while navigating limited resources and growing demands.

The Reconciliation and Restoration Foundation was established in 2022 by experienced nonprofit leaders who understood those realities firsthand. R2 was created to help change the way philanthropy supports Black-led nonprofit organizations, moving beyond simply providing resources toward a more holistic model of support rooted in reconciliation, restoration, and long-term sustainability.

Because funding matters, but funding alone is not enough. Leaders also need relationships, knowledge, capacity, opportunities to grow, and space to restore themselves so they can continue showing up for the communities that depend on them.

Supporting the Whole Organization and the Whole Leader

R2 connects Black-led nonprofits with financial, social, and human capital designed to strengthen both the organization and the people leading it.

Through capacity-building, technical assistance, meaningful learning experiences, wellness support, scholarships, and opportunities for connection, R2 helps nonprofit leaders build stronger organizations while also investing in their own growth and well-being.

This work is about creating the conditions nonprofit leaders need to lead sustainably, organizations need to grow stronger, and communities need to benefit from the important work these organizations make possible.
