Mission
The mission of the Richardson Citizen Fire Academy Alumni Association (RCFAAA) is to function in an auxiliary capacity to assist, promote, and support the Richardson Fire Department through service, education and recognition.
Members of the Citizen Fire Academy Alumni Association are graduates of the Richardson Citizen Fire Academy and act as an auxiliary, supporting the Richardson Fire Department (RFD). The members meet monthly and take part in programs with the goal of increasing their knowledge and support of the RFD.
The RCFAAA supports the Richardson Fire Department in numerous areas. We provide scholarships each year to dependents of active RFD employees. We support the annual RFD Awards Banquet by purchasing gift cards and raffle prizes. The RCFAAA provides gift cards for RFD to use at major incidents where it is determined that there is an immediate need by those affected. Small pocket-sized calendars with the annual schedule are provided yearly for the 3 shifts who work a 48-96 schedule. Calendars are also made available for family members. We provide requested items as needed and approved by RFD. These have included scene lights, an LZ-30 Gas Laser and 9 volt batteries for smoke detectors for the elderly in our city that RFD will check and change these upon request. We provide funds to support the mental health of RFD, if needed, by funding support meals with a speaker.
Fire 1 REHAB Unit is a vehicle that has been equipped with items needed on site for fire personnel and others. RCFAAA provides drinks and snacks, misting fans and cooling towels, a covered seating area and sanitizing towels for clean up by fire fighters. This service provides relief from conditions created by extended emergencies and/or extreme temperatures. Fire 1 is also utilized for Public Education purposes during city events.
Our needs are monetary; we use several fundraising methods including selling Challenge Coins and a yearly golf tournament. We also accept donations at events where we have a presence.
