Since 2006, we’ve been feeding economically disadvantaged children on the weekends, ensuring they don’t go hungry when school meals aren’t available. What began at First United Methodist Church of Burleson as a simple “kids feeding kids” program has grown far beyond what we imagined. In our first year, we served just 50 children—by 2024, that number grew to 238 children across 18 schools in the Burleson Independent School District. This growth reflects both the need and the heart of our community. And while we’ve come a long way, there’s still much work to be done.
Many children who receive free or reduced lunches at school face hunger when the weekend comes. Our mission is to bridge that gap by providing nutritious weekend meals to children who might otherwise go without. By ensuring they return to school fed and ready to learn, we’re helping build a stronger, healthier future—one meal at a time. Join us in making sure no child goes hungry over the weekend.
