$5,000 Goal

In a sprawling and often chaotic world, Gilmont invites us to gather ourselves in the timeless and uncomplicated beauty of the forest. Gilmont is a place for people to rest, rejuvenate, and recreate. For over 80 years, campers of all ages have connected and reflected in the midst of the healing and nurturing power of creation. They have hiked Gilmont’s trails, fished in the pond, and stargazed at the night sky. They have felt centered.

Today, Gilmont offers Family Camps, Overnight Camps, and Day Camps in the summer and a variety of retreats for all ages throughout the year. These retreats include Men's Retreat, Women's Retreat, Young Adult Retreat, Spiritual Practices Retreat, Silent Retreat, RPGilmont (a table top role-play weekend), and others.

Throughout the year, Gilmont's Circle of Friends program offers families who have children with developmental disabilities a safe, sacred space full of fun, fellowship, and respite. Campers enjoy classic camp activities and sensory-friendly activities with volunteer buddies while guardians relax, bond, and enjoy their own camp fun. Thanks to the generosity of many, this program is free for families.

Our vision is for guests of all ages to be grounded in creation, filled with wonder, and inspired to glorify God and serve others. Our guests agree, saying "Gilmont is highly personal, intimate and grounded in nature and faith." Another reflected on their child's experience at camp, saying "Gilmont is a great place for growth and development as an individual surrounded by God’s creation and guided by wonderful people who help nurture that love and knowledge."

Gilmont is located on 400 acres of piney woods in north east Texas, 2.5 hours from the metroplex. The majority of our guests retreat from their urban environments to surround themselves with creation and intentional community. Guests stay in air-conditioned cabins or lodge rooms and enjoy meals at our Dining Hall - which accommodates a wide variety of diets.

Gilmont activities include archery, axe throwing, swimming, canoeing, crate stacking, slingshots, zipline, crafts, prayer stations, disc golf, hiking, and many more. Many guests enjoy sitting around a campfire in the evening and sharing stories. According to a summer camper, “the best thing about Gilmont is connecting with others through outdoor activities.”

Mission

Gilmont's mission is to culitvate a safe, sacred space where all are invited to grow closer to God, creation, others, and themselves.

Needs

Gilmont needs prayer, partners in ministry, and support to help welcome campers and guests of all ages at camps, conferences, and retreats. This giving day, we are asking you to give to our North Texas Scholarship Fund.

The North Texas Scholarship Fund alleviates financial barriers for children, youth, adults, and families who are interested in growing in community, deepening their relationship with God, immersing themselves in creation, and enjoying fun and relaxation. Eligible programs include Summer Camp, Winter Retreat, Young Adult Retreat, Women's Retreat, Men's Retreat, Spiritual Practices Retreat, Circle of Friends, and all other Gilmont programs.

Equity Statement

When Gilmont's mission statement claims that we provide a safe, sacred space for ALL, we mean it. One of our core values is welcoming culture where people from all walks of life are invited to enter into community as our most authentic selves.

For our Summer Camp programs, we partner with other denominations and non-profits, including those serving children in foster care, low-income children, and first generation children.

Gilmont also creates intentional spaces for those with unique needs, such as with Great Gluten Escape and Circle of Friends. Great Gluten Escape is a summer camp program that provides a safe space and community for campers with celiac disease or gluten intolerance.

Circle of Friends is a weekend family camp that happens several times a year and serves children with developmental disabilities and their families. Guardians receive respite and fellowship while campers enjoy all the fun of camp with volunteer buddies. Thanks to the generosity of many, this program is free for families.

Gilmont strives to eliminate barriers to the camping experience by providing scholarships to camp and retreats for those who need assistance.
