Plano Community Forum

The Plano Community Forum has been in existence for40 years raising money for graduating seniors to further their education, hosting the annual citywide Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr Program in partnership with the City of Plano, and sponsoring culturing events such as plays and performances that educate the community. PCF focuses on partnerships and collaborations that enable us to join efforts with other community organizations to broaden our impact believing that "two are better than one".

Over the past 40 years PCF has awarded $310,450 in scholarships to 329 students. Some of those students have gone on to become successful in a wide range of professions and even an NFL player and Grammy Award winning Gospel artist. We don't underestimate the impact that our scholarships can have in the life of a student. In some cases, it has made the difference in allowing a student to attend the college of his or her dreams. Our scholarships are awarded based on academics but also takes into consideration the financial need and supporting a student's potential evidenced in our "Shining Star" award. We believe no student should have to abort his or her dreams because of a lack of funds, whether it's helping with tuition and books or supplementing room and board, we are there.

Our Needs

Donations will be used to grant scholarships to minority students who would like to further their education at a college or university upon graduating from high school. Some of the money will also be used as follows:
* to supplement our scholarship bootcamp that coaches students and their parents on how to locate money (grants, scholarships, etc.) for college and
*to sponsor our Annual Community Expressions Contest that celebrates Black History Month and encourages students and young adults to demonstrate their literary and artistic skills.
