We are Pizza Chapel Theatre Company! We're a 501(c)3 organization, focused on community-building, advocacy and storytelling through the staging of unique theatrical experiences. Under our mission of Resist, Represent & Redefine, we aim to maintain the financial accessibility of our productions, for audiences and contributing artists alike. With your support, we can produce stories that celebrate the non-normative. With your contributions, we will advocate for a new theatrical standard that is self-sufficient, Democratic, representative, and good. Your donation proves that doing it yourself doesn't mean doing it alone.
After taking a bit of a hiatus, we are returning with an original piece, Girls Talking. It’s a show about girls talking. It’s a show about girls growing. It’s a show about girls being creative. About girls be idiots and also tender and wild. It’s about healing and making something new. Written by Pizza Chapel Theatre Company Cofounders, Samantha Alarcon and Lindsey Hertel, this piece explores the healing power of female friendship while two idiots attempt to put on a production of M*cbeth.
OUR MISSION IS SIMPLE.
We want to create theatre events that are unlike anything you've yet experienced. We vow to do that through:
RESISTANCE.
Doing it ourselves. We are committed to the fight of democratizing access to art by removing financial barriers. For this reason, ours shows will feature pay-what-you-want access to admission.
REPRESENTATION.
We will produce stories that celebrate the non-normative. We will seek out scripts written by folks less frequently recognized by the theatrical canon. We want to reframe stories we loved growing up in a way that provides a more representative narrative. We will use these narratives to advocate for the change we hope to see in the world.
REDEFINITION.
Committing to top-tier artistic production value. We are out to prove that DIY is The New Theatre & it is self-sufficient, Democratic, representative, and good.
Equity has been at the forefront of our planning since our early days as an organization. We believe that we live in an inherently unequal world so we strive to build and protect an environment that fosters democratic access and the free exchange of ideas. Theatre and storytelling offers a unique opportunity to amplify and celebrate diverse voices, identities and experiences, particularly those not traditionally showcased in the theatrical canon. It is from this perspective that we craft each of our theatrical experiences at Pizza Chapel Theatre Co.
