Phoenix House Texas provides substance use prevention and mental health education programs for youth in grades K-12, their families, and the broader community.
We provide schools and communities with cutting-edge, evidence-based, Positive Prevention services that create community awareness of the health consequences of substance use, alcohol use (including underage drinking), marijuana use, and prescription drug misuse.
We offer a range of Positive Prevention resources and programs designed to empower youth, families, and communities to make informed decisions, prevent substance use, improve mental health and well-being, and foster resiliency. We provide three levels of Positive Prevention, including Universal Prevention (YPU), Selective Prevention (YPS), and Indicated Prevention (YPI). Our evidence-based curricula include Botvin Life Skills Training, Guiding Good Choices, Positive Action, Learning to BREATHE, Curriculum-Based Support Group, and the Blues Program. In Program Year 2024, our Positive Prevention programs reached more than 51,000 people across Texas—a 96% increase overall from the year prior.
Since September 2024, we have been significantly growing our Positive Prevention services, tripling the number of programs we operate in Dallas County. Our Positive Prevention programs reach over 21,000 participants across 55 ZIP Codes in Dallas County annually, and on average, 94% of Dallas County participants successfully complete our Positive Prevention programming.
