Paws for Progress was started by a group of concerned and caring animal lovers who were tired of seeing their part of Texas overrun with abandoned, neglected, dumped and killed dogs and cats.  Our rural area with back roads and forests only seems to encourage those who heartlessly want to dump their animals.  With no city animal control or animal shelter, there was little hope for the animals or the town to see improvement if action was not taken. Our combined talents, experience as volunteers with other animal rescue organizations, determination and massive love for animals brought us together in August 2023 to form Paws for Progress.

We are now a charitable not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization and are proud that our very small but scrappy group has successfully rescued, spayed/neutered and adopted out close to 125 dogs and cats and trapped, neutered and released 80 feral/semi-feral cats to date.

Giving Activity

Mission

Paws for Progress' mission is to create a compassionate and responsible community where the welfare of both animals and citizens thrives harmoniously. We are dedicated to addressing the pressing issues of stray cats and dogs in our county and surrounding areas. We embark on a mission to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome animals in need.

By uniting our community under the shared goal of responsible pet ownership and compassion for animals, Paws for Progress envisions a future where every cat and dog can enjoy a life filled with love, care, and a forever home. Together, we can create positive change and build a community that truly cares for all its members, both human and furry.

Needs

Paws for Progress always accepts and greatly appreciates monetary donations in any amount so we can continue to help the animals we encounter everyday that need help. Supplies are always needed so we created a wish list on Chewy.com in an effort to make it easy to know what our current needs are. Direct payment to our account with veterinarians that we partner with is a great option, too.

EVERY LITTLE BIT HELPS!!! 100% of donations go to the animals in our care.

Equity Statement

Paws for Progress operates on a cash basis.
