At Patch’s Place, we provide a safe haven for draft horses rescued from the kill pen—many of whom have been deemed unadoptable due to their medical needs or past abuse. From those suffering from lifelong medical issues, often at the hands of humans, to those so traumatized they fear even the gentlest touch, these horses find refuge and healing here. Today, ten horses call Patch's Place home, including drafts, a pony, and a mini, ranging in age from 1 to 25 years.
Their daily care—feed, hay, farrier visits, medical treatments, vaccinations, and more—rests on our shoulders for as long as they need it, for the rest of their lives. While it’s easy to recognize the need to rescue, the ongoing commitment to sanctuary care can be harder to see. But it’s just as vital. These horses, too, deserve a future full of health, happiness, and dignity. Your support can make that possible. Help us continue to give these gentle giants the life they deserve, filled with love, care, and the chance to heal.
Our sanctuary not only ensures that these exceptional animals find the permanent home and life they deserve but also enables us to support our partner, 1 Horse at a Time Draft Rescue, in their mission, by allowing them to continue to rescue horses from slaughter, through creating space for fostering, as we provide a permanent home for those with ongoing medical needs.
