Paper Chair Studios

Paper Chair provides essential resources to visual artists in Denton and North Texas. Founded and led by artists, Paper Chair is committed to being the glue by providing subsidized artist studios, funding, career guidance, and visibility for artists in Denton. Our town is rich in creatives, but we need the scaffolding and support to thrive.

In addition to improving the lives of artists, we know that investing in the arts will benefit our community economically and improve the physical and mental well-being of our town (Americans for the Arts). We partner with local and regional art organizations to share resources and create stronger, more sustainable support for artists.

• Your gift sustains and grows programming - Our existing programming, Back Door Residency and Monster Art Rally, provides platforms and career development for artists. Recently, the City of Denton has accepted our proposal to create a mentorship program for artists as part of Halloweentown. Funding is essential for us to continue to expand our resources and create opportunities.
• Your gift helps us reach our goal of opening a physical space - Paper Chair's future location is embedded in our mission of providing artists essential resources, including studios, residencies, career and professional programming, community meeting space, and exhibition space. This hub for visual arts will cultivate connections and networking through open studios and events, and give artists access to equipment such as a woodshop and a papermaking studio.
