OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation is a 501(c)(3) operating public charity; it believes that good vision is a basic human right. To fulfill its mission, the Foundation collaborates with governments, global and local NGOs and other private sector partners whose goals are aligned with this belief. Working this way, the Foundation can catalyze greater engagement and resources and inspire wide-spread systems change to achieve its goals. Since 2013, the Foundation has provided over 500 million people with access to sustainable vision care through 22,200 primary vision care entrepreneurs and 218 vision centers. Together with the Foundation’s other philanthropic activities, these efforts have helped correct and/or protect the vision of over 50 million people and created 20,000 livelihoods in developing communities.
OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation has an ambition to eliminate uncorrected, poor vision in a generation. The value of the Foundation’s programs cannot be overstated. Our programs maximize the combined efforts of professionals and volunteers while, most importantly, increasing access to corrective vision services for underserved people. The Foundation’s four focus areas include:
• Creating sustainable access points for vision care
• Innovating for affordable solutions like low-cost digital and automated screening tools
• Funding subsidized and free services
• Driving advocacy and awareness about the cause of vision
The Foundation ensures its services are provided to low-income people who are most in need. The North Texas regions remains a major area of emphasis, as it is the headquarters for our North American chapter. In this region, the Foundation serves low-income elementary school children, ages 5 to 12, by working directly with Title 1 schools.
