WHO WE HELP

Take a second to put yourself in our client’s shoes. You’ve lived two different lives at this point: before you were incarcerated and being in prison. Now, you’re embarking on yet another new life that you know you have to succeed in or you’re returning to prison.

When released, you have 3 things – the clothes on your back, a bus ticket and $100 – and you’ve been tasked with successfully reentering into society.

But what does that even mean? How do you do that without being a burden on your family, if you have one to go to? Who are you now that you’re out? And who will give you a chance in the real world? Where do you even start?

One Man’s Treasure is here to help our clients take that first step and give them the support needed to go beyond.

WHAT WE DO

We’re a faith-based non-profit centered in the belief that finding employment is the first step to successful reentry. As such, One Man’s Treasure provides a FREE, personalized set of clothing to each client that they can feel confident in to assist and support them during the employment search. Through clothing, we help provide men with dignity and hope as they embark on a new life.

But we don’t stop there, we ensure our clients receive appropriate community-based services and help connect them to partners that support their individual needs like housing, transportation, food access, healthcare, a church or community, and education.

HOW IT WORKS

  1. We work with partners like Texas Department of Criminal Justice Rehabilitation and Reentry Divisions' caseworkers, Chaplaincy, Windham School, area transition homes, prison ministries and other non-profits to help identify clients and provide access to our application.
  2. Clients fill out an application about their sizes and style or they can call us directly to set everything up.
  3. Our volunteers create a set of clothes personalized to each client and then male volunteers, Shepherds, deliver the clothes to our clients’ residence.

MAKING A DIFFERENCE TOGETHER

  • Since our founding in 2005, we’ve served more than 28,000 men!

  • Our clients have a 9.5% recidivism rate, compared to the national rate of over 65%

  • Over 50% of incarcerated men are fathers. Helping a man successfully return home has a positive ripple effect that impacts his children, family, and the community.

  • It costs taxpayers $28,000 per year to house 1 inmate. With our clients’ record-breaking recidivism rate, our small but mighty nonprofit saves Texas taxpayers millions.

Mission

One Man’s Treasure empowers men released from Texas state prisons returning to North Texas by providing them quality clothing and resources for essential social services to help break the cycle of recidivism and poverty.

Needs

We rely on financial and clothing donations to provide clothing to the men we serve, so let's talk about how your dollars are used.

The average cost of the clothing provided in a startup wardrobe to each man:

• A pair of Jeans = $30

• A pair of Slacks = $50

• Two Dress Shirts = $100

• Two Short Sleeve Shirts = $50

• Athletic Shoes = $50 (If requested, work boots = $75)

• Three pairs of Underwear = $10

• Four sets of Socks = $15

• A Tie = $20

• A Belt = $25

$350 = giving a man a new beginning and another chance to change a client's life

Imagine what $1,000 or $5,000 could do? Please give generously! It truly makes a difference.
