On The Brighter Side of Texas is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization with the goal of providing both day programs, and live-in opportunities for special needs adults here in Ellis County.
Starting in the spring of 2025, a small group of concerned individuals, some with special needs children of their own, decided to take it upon themselves to create a non-profit organization that would benefit the long-term needs of these precious individuals at an affordable cost.
While the task may be daunting, the vision is great! With a combination of private donations, grants, and some governmental assistance, we believe we will see our vision become a reality for the residents of Ellis County. We would welcome your support in this endeavor!
On The Brighter Side's objective is to provide a community for special needs adults that includes a day program offering education, job coaching, and socialization opportunities. In the future, we hope to be able to offer a live-in community in Ellis County, providing a safe environment with experienced staff to provide the care necessary for these wonderful individuals!
We seek to provide inclusive housing, essential services, enrichment programs, and employment opportunities that foster independence, dignity, and community integration. In short, our mission is to build a brighter future by addressing the urgent need for comprehensive care and life-enhancing opportunities for people with disabilities.
To empower individuals with special needs in Ellis County by providing housing, personalized care, enriching programs, employment pathways, and advocacy — all rooted in dignity, community, and opportunity.
Our Phase I initiative is to create a dayhab facility where participants can enjoy daily activities to help them with socialization, health & wellness, vocational opportunities, music, technology, and more.
In our Phase II Initiative, we want to expand by investing in affordable residential housing and facilities that offer long-term solutions designed especially for the special needs community. In so doing, we will position our city and county as a model of inclusion, compassion and progress.
At On The Brighter Side, we believe that true community progress is measured by how we embrace, support, and uplift our most vulnerable members. We recognize that individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) have historically faced systemic barriers to housing, meaningful employment, socialization, and comprehensive care.
