Obtaining New Ground is a nonprofit organization based in North Texas with a mission to empower teenage mothers by helping them build confident, self-sufficient lives both for themselves and their children. ONG was born from personal experience. As a former teen mom myself, I know what it feels like to navigate motherhood without a roadmap or a support system. That lived experience is what inspired me to create this organization.
At ONG, we believe that being a young mother shouldn’t mean the end of your dreams it should be the beginning of a powerful new chapter. Our programs are designed to meet teen moms where they are and walk with them toward where they want to be.
We offer a free 4-week life enrichment curriculum that covers essential topics like financial literacy, child development, job readiness, and personal growth. Once a mother completes our program, she receives a certificate of completion, and in many cases, access to paid internships, job placement services, and community resources that help bridge the gap between surviving and thriving.
But it’s not just about the classes. We provide practical, tangible support like diapers, car seats, strollers, hygiene products, and gas cards—items many of these young women simply can’t afford but desperately need. We host baby showers, offer CPR certifications, and create a village of support where teen moms are seen, heard, and valued.
To date, ONG has served over 500 young mothers and families through our workshops, events, and outreach working across Tarrant, Collin, and soon Dallas counties. Our impact continues to grow, and that’s because we believe in partnerships, community, and the power of investing in our next generation of mothers and leaders.
So whether you’re a donor, an educator, a community partner, or someone who wants to make a difference, there’s a place for you at ONG. Together, we’re not just changing lives we’re changing legacies.
At Obtaining New Ground (ONG), our mission is to empower teenage mothers by providing access to transformative resources, life-enrichment education, and a strong support system. We believe that every young mother deserves the opportunity to thrive not just survive.
Through our free 4-week curriculum, job readiness training, financial literacy education, and child development workshops, we equip teen moms with the tools and confidence needed to become self-sufficient. Our programs are designed to break generational cycles of poverty and dependency by helping young mothers build stable futures for themselves and their children.
We are committed to creating a pathway to purpose, independence, and long-term success one mother at a time.
Diapers, car seats and strollers, maternity clothing, feminine hygiene products, toiletries, hiring case managers, vouchers for transportation, and laptops for classes
At Obtaining New Ground, we believe that every young mother regardless of her background, circumstances, or zip code deserves equitable access to opportunity, education, and support. We are committed to dismantling the systemic barriers that prevent teenage mothers from achieving their full potential.
Equity is not simply a goal it is the foundation of our mission. We recognize that teen mothers often face unique challenges shaped by racial, economic, gender, and social disparities. ONG exists to close those gaps by providing life-enrichment courses, essential resources, and career pathways that affirm their dignity, amplify their voices, and build their capacity for long-term success.
We intentionally design our programs to meet individuals where they are, honoring the lived experiences of each participant while creating inclusive spaces that foster growth, healing, and self-sufficiency. Through strategic partnerships, community engagement, and continued advocacy, ONG works to ensure that equity is not only promised but practiced.
We are not just preparing young mothers for the future. We are working to reshape it with them, for them, and alongside them.
