North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging is a program of the North Central Texas Council of Governments. Its mission is to help older adults remain as independent as possible, for as long as possible. It administers services that include home-delivered meals, congregate meals, transportation, benefits counseling, case management, fall prevention classes, long-term care ombudsman (to resolve complaints among those who live in nursing and assisted living facilities), nursing home relocation, caregiver education, and respite care. All services are provided at no charge to those who qualify. Donations allow additional people to be served.
For the purposes of charitable giving, all donations go through the North Central Texas Council of Governments Foundation, Inc.
The mission of the North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging is to maximize the independence, well-being, and health of older North Central Texans, persons with disabilities, and their family caregivers.
The North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging seeks funding for its fall prevention workshops, including A Matter of Balance and Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention, and for its Dementia Friendly North Central Texas initiative (supported by a federal grant that will end in December 2025). Through Dementia Friendly, the North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging provides education, respite, group education, and one-on-one consultation to those who care for family members with dementia.
The North Central Texas Area Agency on Aging serves people aged 60 and over and their family caregivers. It does not discriminate but does give priority to those who are experiencing greatest economic need, greatest social need, and disability.
