At Noggin, we have adopted a multi-pronged approach to closing the achievement gap. Students enrolled with Noggin have access to multiple programs to help close gaps in learning and give them the knowledge and skills to thrive in college and in their careers. After a multi-year investment, each Noggin Kid will have a diverse selection of opportunities aligned with their goals and aspirations following high school graduation. Every year we serve an average of 1000 students and strive to make an even more significant impact. We believe that every student deserves a shot at a bright future.
Noggin provides weekly, private educational coaching sessions in math and ELAR to economically disadvantaged children in grades K-12. We exclusively hire experienced classroom teachers as they are uniquely equipped to bridge academic gaps and meet the needs of students. We all know that the last few years have been tough for education. Many students from low-income families already suffer from the impact of the achievement gap, but gaps in learning from the Pandemic and the teacher shortage have caused these students to fall even further behind.
Our Educational Coaching goes several steps beyond traditional tutoring. In addition to content mastery, we focus on the whole student by helping them develop problem-solving skills, time and resource management, study skills, and effective test-taking strategies. Our goal is to build foundational tools that enable our students to achieve success in school and increase college and career readiness. 1
Your North Texas Giving Day donation will also help fund our Special Education Advocacy program. An ARD (Admission, Review, and, Dismissal) meeting is a meeting with teachers, administrators, and other staff members who determine whether or not a student is eligible for special education. The ARD team develops the Individual Education Program (IEP) for eligible students. Our Special Education Advocates are professionals who help parents throughout the ARD process. Parents enrolled in this program are matched with an Advocate who provides support to assist in obtaining the services and accommodations their child needs at school for learning disabilities or special needs.
Your support allows us to continue to provide services like these to our students and families at no cost. $500 allows one student to participate in our Educational Coaching program for one semester or 10 hours of Special Education Advocacy. $2000 allows a student to participate in tutoring for 1 year and their parent to receive Special Education support.
