We have saved 1,000+ animals through our efforts during the past 11 years. We have taken the animals who are in the most need whether it be due to illness, injury, neglect, special needs, old age, temperament or bottle babies. We have helped any animal that is in need that we were able to find a foster for. In addition to cats and dogs we have taken in guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, mice, rats, lizards, turtles, goats, fish, pet birds and rabbits. We also assist by transporting wild birds and wildlife to area rehabbers. We believe every animal deserves the chance to live their life to their fullest potential . We hold all unaltered females who enter into our care for a minimum of 30 days to be sure they are not pregnant before they are spayed. If they are pregnant we allow them to have their babies and raise them, then we make sure that never happens again for them or their babies. Our mission is to save every animal that is savable and to reduce the number of homeless pets.
We are still hopeful to be able to begin our Fixin’ Hunt County campaign where we would provide free spay/neuters for animals in Hunt County. However, at the present time our aging, permanent fosters are requiring all the funds we are able to obtain.
Funds to go towards our free spay/neuter program - Fixin’ Hunt County, where we will focus on one city in Hunt County at a time, first cats then dogs, to eliminate the large numbers of homeless pets in those areas.
We are currently in desperate need of funds to help our sanctuary animals. We have had many major health issues with our permanent fosters this year as they are aging. Two dogs (Sparky and Olaf) both had cancerous tumors removed and Sparky had to have a form of chemo therapy. They both require ongoing care. We have had several older dogs (Gizmo, Lil’ Girl, Jules) develop heart and thyroid issues and they are now on permanent expensive medications to control those. We recently had a cat (Mercedes) develop asthma. She is in need of an inhaler. There have been several kitties with stomatitis who had full mouth extractions (Miles, Blanca, Tessa) and several more needing teeth removed currently (Cinnabon and Milton who is FIV+). We have a special needs cat (Heather) who requires medications, extra vet visits and the occasional procedure to keep her intestinal tract unblocked. We have a kitty (Hamster) who has a tumor in her nasal cavity. She had radiation therapy and requires ongoing treatment from her specialist. There are also several dogs with severe skin allergies who require Apoquel or Cytopoint regularly. (Olaf, Gizmo, Lil’ Girl, Lady, Dixie, Zeus, Harli) We’ve also had several goats with health issues this year - one with skin cancer who went to Texas A&M for treatment (Domino), one who is very old (Dante’) who got a terrible infection and had to have an eye removed and One who has a deformed hoof that requires constant care (Lil’Man). This is all in addition to regular vetting of vaccines, check ups, bloodwork, dentals, flea & tick control, Heartworm prevention, etc.
Funds to vet current fosters with special needs;
Routine vetting of our fosters - spay/neuter, vaccinations, testing, deworming and microchipping;
Flea and heartworm prevention for fosters;
Purina dog & cat chow or Purina One
Puppy pads - all sizes
Baby wipes;
Paper towels and cleaning supplies;
dog treats;
My Pet Peed/ Pooph
No Kill Hunt County is an all volunteer, foster based, 501c3 non-profit, animal rescue which was officially founded in 2014. Our mission is to save high risk animals while also working to reform area kill shelters. We also educate the public on the necessity of altering their pets and responsible pet parenting. We are working towards providing free spay/neuters for animals in Hunt County through our Fixin’ Hunt County program - to help get the booming pet population under control.
We are in great need of funds to continue caring for our permanent sanctuary animals.
