The New Texas Symphony Orchestra (NTSO), Dallas' premier community orchestra, is an all-volunteer, nonprofit performing arts group. At the heart of NTSO is the belief that music has the power to bring people together. By sharing the joy of FREE live performances for ALL, we aim to bridge the gap between musicians and the audience, fostering a sense of unity and creating memorable experiences that resonate long after the final note fades.

A New Era for NTSO

This season marks an exciting new chapter for the New Texas Symphony Orchestra as we welcome Dr. Michelle Perrin Blair as our Artistic Director. Dr. Blair succeeds Dr. Kathryn D. Brownlee, the orchestra's founding director, who led the 80-musician, all-volunteer ensemble through 21 years of remarkable growth and success.

Dr. Brownlee leaves a lasting legacy, having built the NTSO into a beloved organization known for championing underrepresented composers—especially women and composers of color—while honoring classical traditions and expanding community access to classical music through FREE community concerts across DFW.

Building on more than two decades of musical excellence, community engagement, and innovation, the NTSO continues its mission to enrich the greater Dallas community through dynamic, inspiring performances and accessible symphonic music.

Your gift during North Texas Giving Day ensures that our orchestra of passionate volunteer musicians can continue to thrive, perform, and connect with audiences of all ages. Every dollar helps us create programs that bring people together, nurture musicianship, and share the joy of live music.

Why Give?

  • In 2019, NTSO launched “Free Concerts for ALL”, our commitment to making every concert free and accessible to the public. This initiative, combined with inclusive programming, has broadened access to classical music and strengthened NTSO’s connection to an increasingly varied audience. Concertgoers see this diversity reflected both in our orchestra and in the crowd.

NTSO needs your support to sustain operations and continue fulfilling our mission and the “Free Concerts for ALL” initiative. Together, we can keep enriching Dallas with free, live symphonic music.

  • Every contribution supports our concerts, community outreach, and educational initiatives.

  • Your generosity helps us secure the orchestra’s future for generations of musicians to come!

Join us in kicking off our 22nd season by making a gift today. Our goal is to raise $22,222 through this campaign—every donation helps us continue bringing inspiring performances to North Texas. With your support, the New Texas Symphony Orchestra can keep connecting our community through the power of music.

Thank you for helping us write the next chapter of the NTSO’s story!

Giving Activity

Mission

The mission of the NTSO is to enrich the greater Dallas communities. We offer inspiration and entertainment by connecting the patrons of North Texas with live symphonic music.

Our vision is to perform dynamic music that inspires and educates the community at large while nurturing the musicianship of the orchestra players.

Needs

Like many performing arts organizations, the New Texas Symphony Orchestra is feeling the impact of ongoing funding cuts and reduced support for the arts. Your gift during North Texas Giving Day helps us cover essential costs—such as performance hall rentals, music licensing, and guest artist fees—so our volunteer musicians can continue to thrive, perform, and connect with audiences of all ages.

In 2019, we launched our “Free Concerts for ALL” initiative, making every performance free and accessible to the public. This commitment, along with diverse and inclusive programming, has helped us better reflect and serve the vibrant North Texas community. Every dollar you give supports programs that bring people together, nurture musicianship, and celebrate the joy of live music.

Equity Statement

The New Texas Symphony Orchestra (NTSO) is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all. This includes our staff, volunteers, patrons, board, and all stakeholders. We strive to ensure that everyone is respected, valued and appreciated regardless of their race, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, abilities or disabilities, religious beliefs, or any other factor. We are dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming space where everyone can be their authentic selves.
