The North Texas TRANSportation Network (NTTN) was founded in the summer of 2023 by Galileo Christian Church in response to Texas Senate Bill 14 (SB14). Our mission is simple but urgent: to provide travel and relocation grants to North Texas families seeking out-of-state healthcare for their trans and gender-expansive youth, 18 and under. SB14 prohibits healthcare professionals from providing best-practice, gender-affirming care to trans and gender-expansive youth under 18. This law directly contradicts the standards of care endorsed by the Texas Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics and strips away access to life-saving treatment. At NTTN, we believe healthcare is a human right. Denying necessary medical care to trans youth is state-sponsored cruelty, and we refuse to let families face this burden alone. Despite opposition, hate mail, and threats, NTTN remains steadfast. Families and kids in Texas are suffering under harmful legislation, and we are committed to helping them access the care their children need to thrive. Love and acceptance will always win over hate. We envision a North Texas where every family with trans or gender-expansive youth can afford the healthcare they need. As neighbors to one another, we believe in lifting each other up so that all families can flourish. As long as trans youth and their families are being denied health care in Texas, NTTN will be here to stand with them and offer financial support.
