The Next Generation Action Network (NGAN) is North Texas’ largest human and civil rights organization, leading the fight for justice, equity, and systemic change. Founded in Dallas in 2014, NGAN has become a nationally recognized movement dedicated to amplifying the voices of marginalized communities and addressing the root causes of inequality. Through grassroots organizing, community empowerment, legal advocacy, and policy reform, NGAN has driven historic wins—shaping legislation, creating oversight systems, championing education equity, and demanding accountability in policing.

NGAN operates two core branches to expand our reach and impact:

  • NGAN Excel, our education and youth development branch, supports students and families through school-based programming that strengthens attendance, behavior, academic outcomes, and mental health. Programs include group mentoring, career exposure, family engagement, and holistic wraparound services.

  • NGAN Legal Advocacy Fund, our legal justice branch, provides pro bono case support for individuals facing unjust treatment by policing systems, the courts, or child protective services. Our work uplifts individual cases while fighting for policy reform and system-wide accountability.

Over the past decade, NGAN has mobilized thousands and influenced change across local, state, and national levels. Our work continues to create pathways for dignity, fairness, and opportunity across the communities we serve. As we move forward, we remain committed to building lasting power through people, policy, and action.

Mission

To build grassroots power, defend civil and human rights, and create lasting systems change by organizing communities, empowering youth, and holding institutions accountable, from the streets to the statehouse

Needs

Our Current Needs:

Legal Advocacy Fund: Support for rapid-response legal aid and client advocacy for families impacted by criminalization or systemic injustice.

NGAN Excel (Youth): Resources to expand school-based programs like GRACE and leadership intensives focused on education, mental health, and career exposure.

Community Mobilization: Funds for organizing, civic engagement, and emergency response — including redistricting battles and policy threats.

Every dollar fuels programs that protect our people, prepare our youth, and shift policy

Equity Statement

NGAN was built to confront the systems that were never designed to protect us. Our work begins with the truth that Black and Brown communities have long been excluded, over-policed, and under-resourced — not by accident, but by design. Equity to us means more than representation. It means redistributing power, removing barriers, and fighting for structural changes that center those most impacted.

Whether we’re challenging unjust arrests, creating pathways for young people through education, or organizing against harmful policies, equity is not a side project — it’s the lens through which every decision is made. Our staff, strategies, and programs reflect the communities we serve, and we remain accountable to them above all else.
