Our focus is those with early to mid-stage Alzheimer's/dementia and their Caregivers along with Community Volunteers. Musical memory and the ability to sing favorite songs are some of the last memories that those with this disease retain. So, singing is a joyful activity for them. The camaraderie and fellowship that develops among those with this debilitating disease, their caregivers and those people who are also in the same boat, helps to form a wonderful new support system and new memories as well. Weekly attendance on Thursdays ranges from 40 to 50 people.

Mission

Musical Memory Singers provides individuals with Alzheimer/dementia and those who care for them opportunities to build community, enrich lives and create new memories through joyful singing.

Needs

We pay ASCAP fees for the music we sing.

A modest honorarium is given to our Musical Director and our Pianist.

We need materials printed for outreach.

We require updating of the technology used to project and share lyrics for our singalongs.

Equity Statement

Musical Memory Singers is an equal opportunity organization. Our weekly meetings are for the benefit of anyone in the Arlington area and surrounding communities who is suffering from Alzheimer's or dementia.
