Montessori Advancement Organization (“MAO”) has been organized exclusively for charitable purposes, including the promotion of education under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (the “Code”) as set forth in its Certificate of Formation and Bylaws. The MAO intends to accomplish its charitable purposes by providing enrichment and educational opportunities for Montessori students and teachers.

The MAO will seek to enrich the local community through activities promoting creative, historical, and cultural educational programming. The MAO will seek to nurture goodwill through understanding of the goals of the Montessori philosophy. The goal of the MAO is to help children by maximizing learning through the adherence of the Montessori approach to education.

The MAO will seek to accomplish its charitable purposes through the funding of different types of opportunities. First, the MAO plans to provide scholarships to benefit students in need of financial assistance to attend Montessori-model schools in Tarrant County, Texas and the surrounding geographic area as determined by the MAO’s board of directors. These scholarships will be awarded on an objective non-discriminatory basis consistent with the accomplishment of the MAO’s charitable purposes. In addition to providing student scholarships, the Corporation will provide ongoing training and education support opportunities for Montessori teachers. These opportunities will provide for additional training and other educational experiences to enable the teachers to increase their own education in delivery of educational services and thereby enhance the student experience.

The MAO anticipates providing funding for an Outdoor Classroom Initiative to enrich students’ Montessori education with experiential learning outside the traditional classroom. The goal of the Outdoor Classroom Initiative is to help students see classroom coursework at work in the real world in order to gain a better understanding of the subject matter. The curriculum will be enriched by allowing students to experience concepts firsthand through fieldtrip activities, hands-on research and learning experiences, access to guest speakers on subjects the students are learning about in school, and contributions to causes tied to the curriculum. Funds raised to support the Outdoor Classroom Initiative will be provided to Montessori-model schools in the Greater Tarrant County area to be used to offset expenses associated with fieldtrip travel and lodging, donations to identified causes related to coursework of the students, the purchase of materials to provide the hands-on learning experiences, and related costs.
