Mercy Street: Transforming Lives in West and South Dallas

For 23 years, Mercy Street has served children and families in West and South Dallas through Christ-centered relationships, enriching programs, and meaningful opportunities to grow. Our programs are fueled by a volunteer base of over 1,200 caring, committed volunteers from across the Dallas-Forth Worth metroplex. Our work has enabled youth to improve their educational outcomes by providing long-term mentors and coaches to them in their formative years, from ages 4-18. 

Over the past year, we served a record-breaking 6,151 children through Sports, Mentoring, Leadership, After School, and Summer Camp programs. Children gained trusted mentors, strengthened their academic and leadership skills, explored new interests, developed confidence, and encountered the hope of the gospel.

Mercy Street Sports

Our sports leagues provide a positive outlet for youth in West and South Dallas during their critical out-of-school time, as well as offer the accessibility and benefits of sports to those who would not otherwise have access to organized sports. Our sports leagues foster character development, strategy, teamwork, resilience, grit, determination, a competitive spirit, and accountability. Mercy Street served 5,416 young athletes this fiscal year through soccer, baseball, flag-football, basketball, and newly added volleyball, cheer, golf, and softball camps and clinics.

Mercy Street Mentoring

This year, Mercy Street’s Mentoring Program served over 500 students through one-on-one mentoring matches, in-school mentoring, out-of-school engagement, and weekly Bible studies. Caring Christian adults build consistent relationships with students, offering guidance, encouragement, prayer, and a trusted presence as they navigate school, relationships, faith, and important life decisions. Mentors also participate in quarterly activities designed to strengthen connections through shared experiences.

Mercy Street Leadership

Through the Mercy Street Leadership Institute, 28 high school students were provided paid internship opportunities last summer focused on preparing them for life after graduation. Each summer, students are equipped with workforce development training, theology classes, college and career readiness training, job shadowing, mental health training, financial literacy classes, business exposure trips, college and university tours, and invaluable paid work experience.

Mercy Street Dream Center

The Mercy Street Dream Center opened in July 2025 and is equipped with: a computer lab, music and podcasting recording studio, photography and videography studio, and much more! Mercy Street will add offerings for high school students outside of school in a safe and supportive environment. The Dream Center cultivate an environment of learning leaders who are equipped to transform their communities through Science, Technology, and The Arts.

After School Program

Mercy Street’s After-School Program provides a safe, supportive environment where elementary students can continue learning and growing beyond the school day. Children receive academic support, participate in engaging enrichment activities, and build meaningful relationships with caring staff. 

Through consistent encouragement and Christ-centered guidance, 41 K-5th grade students strengthened their confidence, developed new skills, and discovered their God-given potential last semester with more added this Fall!

Summer Camp 

Mercy Street’s free Summer Camp gives children an enriching place to learn, explore, and grow while school is out. In summer 2026, 100 children participated in academic preparation, biblical teaching, and hands-on activities such as archery, culinary arts, swimming, and water-safety instruction. Each experience helps children prepare for the next school year while building confidence, forming friendships, and encountering the hope of the gospel.

Aquatics

The Mercy Street Aquatics program provides essential swimming instruction, water-safety education and drowning-prevention training for children and families in West Dallas. Based at the Lakewest Multipurpose Center, home to one of only two community pools, the program plans to serve 500 children ages 4–17 and 75 adults annually. As a certified American Red Cross Training Facility, Mercy Street will also provide CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard Training and Certification for up to 25 teens each year. This workforce-development pathway help young people build water confidence, earn nationally recognized credentials and prepare for meaningful employment in aquatics, recreation and public safety.
