A Stronger Ellis County Starts With A Meal
This North Texas Giving Day, your gift will be doubled to help provide healthy meals for children, working families, veterans, and seniors right here in Ellis County.
Thanks to a generous $10,000 Matching Gift Challenge from JE Dunn Construction, every gift made through September 17 will be matched dollar for dollar.
That means your gift of $25 becomes $50 to provide 150 meals for neighbors going through a difficult season.

Barbara and Bill have called Ellis County home for more than 25 years. They worked hard throughout their lives and never imagined there would come a time when they would need help keeping healthy food on the table.
Today, they live on a fixed income while managing diabetes and rising medical expenses, including costly dental surgery for Bill. When bills like these come due, every dollar matters.
At Manna House, Barbara and Bill can shop the Client Choice Pantry for the foods they actually need — including meat, eggs, milk, fresh fruits and vegetables, and sugar-free options that help them manage their diabetes.
And they are grateful for the choices they find.
“We’re both diabetics. We look for sugar-free stuff all the time, and we find it here,” Bill shared.

Some have been struggling for a while. Others are turning to Manna House for the first time after an illness, job loss, unexpected expense, or simply because groceries and other necessities are taking more of the household budget.
And some of the neighbors most affected are our children.

Ellis County is a county located in 25 miles south of Dallas.Its population is estimated to be over 200,000.The county seat is Waxahachie, and it's largest cities include Waxahachie, Ennis, Midlothian, Red Oak, Italy and Maypearl. According to the North Central Texas Council of Governments, Ellis County’s Growth Rate is 1.83%, the 4th highest in the Metroplex, well over the average of 1.65%.
Ellis County has a poverty rate of 9% . Although near the median for North Texas, they lack many services for at-risk families that larger counties have in place. This puts pressure on already existing non-profits to serve the rapidly growing population.

Manna House Midlothian food pantry services residents in the 76065 zip code and/or Midlothian ISD. We partner with many other outreach services to ensure we are serving everyone in need in our community.
Our Italy, Texas food pantry serves those in and around the Italy area and provides only food support at this time.
