Local Good Center (LGC) is a Plano-based nonprofit on a mission to create lasting good by providing opportunities for personal and community-wide transformation. LGC addresses the community’s complex challenges with creative, holistic solutions by focusing on four key pillars: education, advocacy, wellness, and job readiness. We serve Dallas, Collin, Denton, and surrounding counties.
LGC’s Education Program fosters community transformation by providing free and low-cost education for immigrants and underserved individuals. With year-round English and citizenship test prep classes, thousands have gained valuable skills, renewed confidence, and lasting friendships from around the world. What began as a small gathering of volunteers and students has grown into the Local Good Center’s most beloved and widely attended program.
LGC’s Job Readiness Program helps members of our underserved community prepare for meaningful and lasting employment. Through free classes in resume writing, job searching, mock interviews, and small business workshops—as well as individualized job coaching—we equip even the most vulnerable with the tools they need to thrive.
LGC’s Wellness Program offers preventative care and education focused on nutrition, fitness, and access to healthy food. With a fully equipped demonstration kitchen for hands-on classes and one of the area’s only fresh food access programs, we empower individuals and families to take meaningful steps toward lasting health and wellness.
LGC's Advocacy Program walks alongside families who are fostering, have adopted, or are caring for children through kinship care. With compassion at the heart of what we do, we offer connection nights, respite evenings, and support groups for both moms and dads—creating space for encouragement, rest, and community.
The Local Good Center collaborates with regional nonprofits, local schools, and city partners to respond to the community’s most pressing needs. It is a proud part of the Local Good Collective, an initiative launched by Chase Oaks Church. Learn more at LocalGood.org.
