At Leo’s Friends Rescue we are a small, all-volunteer rescue specializing in the animals who need a little more than most.

We take on the injured, disabled, critically ill and special-needs animals who often require extensive medical care, specialty appointments, rehabilitation and months of hands-on work.

Your donations help cover emergency veterinary care, surgeries, specialty treatment, physical rehabilitation, medications, vaccinations, preventatives, food and the everyday supplies it takes to care for these animals while they heal.

We may be small, but the cases we take on are anything but.

From helping paralyzed dogs learn to walk again, to rehabilitating puppies born with physical disabilities, to giving neglected seniors comfort and dignity and your support gives us the ability to say YES when an animal desperately needs someone to.

Some of our babies eventually find incredible forever families. Some remain with us longer because of their medical needs. And some, despite absolutely everything, leave this world knowing they were deeply loved.

Every single one of them matters.

OUR VISION

Our vision is simple:

To give the animals who have been forgotten, overlooked or considered “too difficult” the chance they deserve.

We specialize in medical and special-needs rescue because we believe quality of life is worth fighting for, even when getting there isn’t easy.

Success doesn’t look the same for every animal. But every life is worth showing up for. 💜

We are currently Rehabbing 4 severe special needs dogs including two swimmer syndrome puppies, Frankie and Fiona and two Paralyzed dogs, Angelo and Manny! Every day we do exercises and mobility challenges to help our kiddos learn to walk again! 

💙Angelo was attacked by two large dogs and left completely paralyzed. Over the last few months, through specialty care, rehabilitation and a LOT of hands-on work, he has continued to make incredible progress. He gets stronger every day and is even learning to use his legs again!

🩵 Manny was hit by a car and left fully paralyzed. After six months of diligent work, we have managed to get him to not only walk again, but RUN! 

💙🩵 Frankie 

Frankie has severe swimmers syndrome that has turned into straight leg syndrome. He has started walking better over the last couple of weeks, but we are still doing intense rehabilitation. It’s going to be a long road, but we love this boy and we’ll do everything we can!

We also have many special needs cats! 🫶🏼

IN LOVING MEMORY 💜🐾

Over the years, we have fought for animals who came to us with unimaginable injuries and illnesses. We knew some of them had very little chance — but having little chance is not the same as having no one willing to try.

These are a few of the babies who changed us forever.

Jenny 💜

Our beautiful, special girl. Jenny lived with hydrocephalus and cerebellar hypoplasia and required lifelong care, but none of that stopped her from enjoying her life. She was pure joy, resilience and love. Jenny spent her life knowing she was safe, cherished and exactly where she belonged. Losing her broke our hearts, but being able to give her that life was one of our greatest privileges.

Ariel was found lifeless in the pool and we were able to bring her back to us, but her body had sustained too much damage and we had to let her gain her angel wings. She was a precious girl and we were able to give her a chance because we had your support  🥹 She deserved a chance and she will always be in our hearts

Lady 💜

Lady came to us critically ill after being found with her deceased owner. We don’t know everything she endured before she reached us, but we knew immediately that she needed someone in her corner. We fought around the clock to stabilize her, pursued hospitalization and veterinary care, and gave her every possible chance we could. Sadly, sometimes love and medicine still aren’t enough. Lady knew safety, comfort and love when she needed it most.

These are the stories that are hardest to tell.
