Unit Equipment Needs — Kaufman County East Young Marines

The Kaufman County East Young Marines unit is committed to providing every young person in our program with a structured, hands-on experience that builds character, discipline, and life skills. but to do that well, we need the right tools. Our unit is actively seeking funding to acquire essential field training equipment, including tents and cots for overnight and outdoor training exercises, compasses for land navigation instruction, canteens and personal gear to support safe and sustained field activity, and communication equipment such as walkie-talkies to facilitate coordinated team operations. In addition, we are working to build out our physical fitness program with training equipment including weights and jump ropes, which are foundational to our physical readiness curriculum. These items are not luxuries; they are the building blocks of a quality program that prepares young people ages 8 through high school graduation to lead with confidence, serve their communities, and pursue a healthy, drug-free lifestyle. Every piece of equipment acquired directly enhances the quality of training our youth receive, extends the range of programming we can offer, and ensures that no young person is turned away or held back simply because our unit lacks the resources to support them. Your investment in the Kaufman County East Young Marines is an investment in the next generation of leaders right here in Kaufman County, Texas.

Equity Statement

Equity Statement, Kaufman County East Young Marines

The Kaufman County East Young Marines is deeply committed to equity, inclusion, and equal access for every young person in our community. We believe that the transformative power of structured youth development, character building, and leadership training belongs to all children and teenagers, regardless of their socioeconomic status, race, ethnicity, gender, family background, or life circumstance. Our program proudly welcomes boys and girls ages 8 through high school graduation, and we actively work to ensure that no young person is turned away due to financial barriers or lack of resources.

We recognize that many of the youth we serve and hope to reach come from underserved households and face real economic challenges that can limit access to enriching programs. In response, our unit is committed to pursuing funding, equipment assistance, and donor support specifically to offset the cost of uniforms, gear, and participation fees for families who need it most. The equipment needs we are seeking to fund through NTX Giving Day are a direct reflection of this commitment, ensuring that every enrolled youth has access to the same quality training tools and experiences as their peers, on equal footing.

Our adult volunteer team strives to reflect the rich diversity of Kaufman County, and we are committed to fostering a program environment that is welcoming, respectful, and affirming for all. We hold our members and volunteers to the Marine Corps values of Honor, Courage, and Commitment, and we extend those values inward as well, to how we treat one another, how we welcome newcomers, and how we show up for every single young person who walks through our doors. At the Kaufman County East Young Marines, equity is not a policy, it is a practice, and it is woven into everything we do.
