Our Mission
The Jordan Elizabeth Harris Foundation works to prevent suicide, eliminate stigma, and provide hope to people struggling with depression.
Our Story
The Jordan Elizabeth Harris Foundation was formed in 2014 to honor the legacy of Jordan Harris, a young woman from North Richland Hills, Texas who died by suicide in 2012. Jordan was in her senior year at the University of Michigan and took her life shortly after being diagnosed with depression. She was her high school's valedictorian, National Merit Scholarship winner, a tireless volunteer, and a compassionate champion of those less fortunate. Jordan's death left her devastated family and friends to wonder if they could have done more to help her through her struggles. Her loved ones discovered there were no local programs available in Fort Worth, Texas area providing evidence-based suicide prevention training and education.
Day of Hope
Last year was JEHF's inaugural Day of Hope. This initiative significantly boosted our support for North Texas schools, launched innovative programs, and ensured that essential prevention programs were accessible to any school in need. The outpouring of generosity led to our expansion to 136 school campuses serving over 120,000 North Texas students. As a result, last Fall we saw a significant decrease in youth suicides in Tarrant County despite the national average going up. While we are proud to see our programs making a tremendous difference, we can do more.
More than 70% of all youth suicides in Tarrant County occurred in April and May of last year. Therefore, we are actively mobilizing our schools, partners and team to ignite hope now. We firmly believe that suicide is preventable and that together, we can turn the tide especially during these critical months.
Join the movement and make your donation today! A gift of as little as $250 can fund essential services for an entire school campus, saving lives and offering hope to those who are struggling. Help us deliver hope to North Texas students now.

Our Approach
Because 75% of people who die by suicide don't have contact with a doctor or mental health professional before they die, it is essential that we offer training to those around them who may be able to identify an issue and help seek treatment.
The Jordan Elizabeth Harris Foundation is committed to providing training so that all people can recognize universal warning signs of suicide. The Foundation specifically works with organizations where people often congregate: Schools, Faith Communities & the Workplace.
The Jordan Elizabeth Harris Foundation works to prevent suicide, eliminate stigma, and provide hope to people struggling with depression.
