Human Resilience, founded in 2019, was created to remove financial barriers to healing. As the nonprofit partner of SimplyAware, we ensure that mindfulness, resilience, and renewal are accessible to everyone—especially veterans, first responders, educators, trauma survivors, seniors, and those facing financial hardship.
The roots of Human Resilience go back to 2016, when SimplyAware was providing a 24-week program for veterans through the VA of North Texas. Training Mindfully with Qigong Principles was changing—and even saving—lives. Veterans told us that without the program they would have taken their own lives. Others brought us backpacks full of pain and mental health medications they no longer needed. On average, participants reported a 44% improvement in their symptoms. Despite these outcomes, the VA ended the contract, leaving hundreds of veterans devastated. We promised them we would find a way to continue offering these life-saving services. Human Resilience is that promise fulfilled.
Today, SimplyAware and Human Resilience are proud to serve as a contracted provider for Boot Campaign. We have also collaborated with Wounded Warrior Project, which has hosted multiple events at our center, connecting us with veterans who continue to seek our support. And in 2024, a veteran in crisis who had worked with us through Boot Campaign specifically requested to continue care with us, leading Semper Fi & America’s Fund to step in and cover his sessions. These connections with nationally recognized organizations affirm both the quality of our programs and the trust veterans place in our care.
In 2024, Human Resilience directly supported 153 visits valued at $11,645. This included 65 therapeutic sessions, 45 classes, 42 sound baths, and workshops for trauma survivors, veterans, educators, first responders, healthcare workers, seniors, and individuals in financial need. These visits were in addition to the many veterans we serve each year through our work as contracted providers for Boot Campaign, Semper Fi & America’s Fund, and Wounded Warrior Project. Nearly every dollar raised by Human Resilience goes directly into subsidizing care for those who might otherwise go without.
The impact is deeply personal. One veteran shared: “Chris helped me re-write my SOP in a healthier, kinder way—one that allows me to be more present with my wife and child. It has literally changed my life.” Another participant said: “I love SimplyAware! The sound baths are amazing—I always leave calm and refreshed.”
Our programs blend Medical Qigong Therapy, Health & Wellness Coaching, Tai Chi & Qigong classes, meditation, sound therapy, Tui Na bodywork, therapeutic art, and group discussion. At the core of every program is the Chinese 5 Element Theory and SimplyAware’s Eight Principles—Grounding Energy, Rising Energy, Minding the Breath, Expanding/Absorbing, Exploring Yin & Yang, Sinking Energy, Listening Energy, and Smiling Energy—creating a framework for physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being.
Looking ahead, your support will allow us to expand with a veteran-only discussion group, a law enforcement recovery group, a communication workshop series, and movement classes for people with Parkinson’s disease. With greater resources, we also envision extending this work to students, helping them develop resilience and communication skills that will serve them for life.
At Human Resilience, we know healing transforms not just individuals but families and entire communities. With your partnership, we can continue to lift burdens, restore hope, and build resilience—ensuring that healing is not a privilege, but a right.
Mission
The mission of Human Resilience is to build stronger communities by removing financial barriers to healing and providing affordable access to mindfulness and resilience training. We empower those who serve and those who are underserved—including veterans and their families, first responders, educators, healthcare workers, survivors, seniors, and individuals facing financial hardship—with practices that restore strength, balance, and hope.
Human Resilience exists to ensure that healing is never out of reach. In 2024, we directly supported 153 visits valued at $11,645, serving trauma survivors, veterans, educators, first responders, seniors, healthcare workers, and those in financial need. These visits were in addition to the hundreds of veterans we reach each year through Boot Campaign and collaborations with Wounded Warrior Project and Semper Fi & America’s Fund.
The demand continues to grow, and your support is essential to launch:
Veteran-only discussion group – creating a safe, supportive space for connection, healing, and resilience.
Law enforcement recovery group – addressing substance use and the unique stressors of first responders.
Communication workshop series – equipping individuals with tools to strengthen relationships and navigate conflict.
Movement classes for people with Parkinson’s disease – improving mobility, independence, and quality of life.
With greater resources, we also envision serving students with resilience and communication skills for life. Your gift expands our reach and transforms need into healing, resilience, and possibility.
At Human Resilience, we believe every person deserves access to mindfulness, healing, and resilience—regardless of background, circumstance, or financial means. Equity is not just an aspiration for us; it is the foundation of our mission.
We stand with both those who serve and those who are underserved: veterans, first responders, educators, healthcare workers, survivors, seniors, and individuals facing financial hardship. Each carries unique burdens, yet also extraordinary strength. We honor that strength by creating opportunities for growth, balance, and renewal.
Our commitment to equity is reflected not only in who we serve, but how we serve. With integrity at our core, we ensure that nearly every dollar raised directly supports programs that bring training to those who might otherwise go without. We choose to lift others up, not through marketing, but by investing deeply in community.
We envision a world where healing, mindfulness, and resilience are shared rights, not privileges. To us, equity means opening doors, leveling paths, and nurturing hope—together, without exception.
