Hugs Cafe Inc. is composed of four programs that empower adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through training and employment. Our purpose is to provide people of all abilities a meaningful pathway to showcase their skills and talents.
Hugs Cafe is our flagship program where we directly employ adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a cafe setting.
To support individuals as they continue their culinary learning, we have a monthly cooking class program, Hugs Home Cooking, that provides socialization and creativity beyond the workplace or the training classroom.
Hugs Greenhouse is our third program that recognizes food service may not be for every person or every ability. We have developed a second social enterprise that trains and educates adults with special needs on gardening, retail sales, and socialization within the community.
With over 7 years of employment and job carving success, we have taken our vocational training beyond those we currently employ. Last year we expanded Hugs Café, Inc. to now include our fourth program, Hugs Training Academy; an educational training center for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities who seek to be employed in the food service and hospitality industries.
All of our programs offer training and competitively-paid employment to adults with special needs so they may gain respect and independence. In all we do, we strive to create purpose in our community.
Our mission is to enhance the lives of adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through training and employment.
As we grow our programs to serve many more in North Texas, we must stretch every dollar we raise and earn. We need to raise $100,000 this year to support our cafe, greenhouse, home cooking, and training academy.
