Hearts & Howls Rescue started in May 2023 when three abandoned Akita dogs - Bruce, Teddy and Luna were found in Heartland, TX. Founder Melissa Crosby and volunteers came together to give them food, shelter, and a second chance.
What began as a small act of kindness quickly grew—by July 2023, we became an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
Since then, over 100 dogs and cats have been rescued and adopted into loving homes! We’re here to give animals a voice, a home, and a future—and we’re just getting started.
Hearts and Howls is a 501(c)3 animal rescue non-profit organization.
Our organization is a labor of love, fully powered by the passion and dedication of our incredible volunteers and funded by the generous hearts of our Heartland community and beyond. Saving one dog/cat at a time!
We need funds to provide veterinary care and supplies to the animals in our care and to continue our mission to helping homeless animals!
