For 26 years, Heart House has been giving children in Vickery Meadow the opportunity to learn, grow, connect, and thrive.
As a free afterschool and summer program, we provide a safe, supportive place where refugee, immigrant, and under resourced students can discover their potential and experience opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach. This year alone we’ve served students from 19 different countries, creating a welcoming community where every child has the opportunity to feel seen, supported, and empowered.
The need in Vickery Meadow is significant, but so is the difference your support can make. 80% of our families make less than $32,000 annually, and 49% of our students come from single-parent households. Through our programs, students receive academic support, social emotional learning, hands on experiences, and trusted relationships with caring adults. And it’s making an impact: 98% of our students say they feel engaged, inspired, and supported at Heart House. For 26 years, we’ve been building a stronger future for children and families in Vickery Meadow and we’re just getting started.

The mission of Heart House is to empower refugee, immigrant, and under-resourced children in Vickery Meadow by providing enhanced opportunities for educational equity through literacy and social-emotional learning.
We seeking funding to expand our Head, Heart, and Hands Afterschool Program to two sites in Vickery Meadow, reaching over 200 refugee and immigrant students. Your support will not only help us deliver year-round academic, social-emotional, and enrichment programs, but also ensure that every child receives daily meals, school supplies, coats, shoes, and hygiene essentials. Many of our students face significant barriers, and with your investment, we can meet both their educational and basic needs—giving them the tools, stability, and confidence to thrive.
