GSSA was established in 1997 as the Greenville Symphony League by music patrons from Greenville and the surrounding area. Two years later, the name was changed to Greenville Suzuki Strings Association to more accurately reflect the primary objectives of encouraging and supporting a local Suzuki strings program. Suzuki instruction made its debut in Greenville in September 2002 with three and four years old students at the Head Start Center at L.P. Waters. The Suzuki program has since expanded and is now offered at Bowie, Carver, KGJ STEM @ Crockett, Lamar, Travis/Sixth Grade Center, Greenville Middle School, and Greenville High School.
Our Needs
The Greenville ISD Suzuki program has been expanding to serve all the Greenville ISD campuses. We are in need of new instruments because our students grow into larger instruments and new students join the program.
Mission
GSSA is focused primarily on raising funds for instruments for Greenville ISD students. With support from the community, GSSA has facilitated the purchase of instruments for all the Greenville ISD Suzuki cello, viola, and violin students in the district. Collaborating with Greenville ISD, students enjoy free of cost a high-quality Suzuki music education from certified Suzuki instructors. GSSA's mission is to provide funds for the purchase of instruments for all Greenville ISD students making quality music education available and affordable for every student.
