The Grace Loncar Foundation (GLF) was established in 2016 after Grace Caroline Loncar, 16, took her own life following a long battle with depression. Grace's family and friends took their grief and created a legacy of hope through GLF, with a mission to prevent suicide and expand access to mental healthcare for North Texas youth, young adults, and survivors of suicide loss.
Every dollar raised during North Texas Giving Day will support the GLF Care Fund
THE GLF CARE FUND.
The GLF Care Fund is a direct-pay treatment subsidy program in which GLF contracts with vetted, licensed mental health providers (Care Partners) and pays them directly to deliver services at a significantly reduced cost to qualifying clients. Mental health providers operate on thin margins, and their capacity to offer pro bono or reduced-fee services is inherently limited by the revenue they need to sustain their practices. Asking clinicians to absorb the full cost of uncompensated and unreimbursable care is not a scalable access strategy. The Care Fund removes that burden. By subsidizing care providers directly, GLF allows its network of Care Partners to extend low-cost treatment without compromising the financial viability of their practices. The result is a sustainable, provider-supported model that expands access without depleting the clinical infrastructure communities depend on.
From our Care Fund launch in October 2024 through April 2026, the Care Fund has worked with 15 Care Partners and invested $191,580 in the program, with 100 percent of funds going directly to treatment. 84 percent of our Care Fund beneficiaries are between the ages of 12 and 26, with the highest concentration in the 13-16 age cohort. Twenty-eight percent of Care Fund beneficiaries have lost a loved one to suicide, representing some of the highest-risk individuals in the community.
The Care Fund doesn’t just provide therapy; it restores lives. I fully support GLF’s mission and hope to see this vital work continue to grow.
