A Hand Up, Not a Handout
Givingmas is a community-powered nonprofit that provides personalized support to families seeking stability—helping them clear hurdles, regain confidence, and build sustainable, independent lives. We believe in offering a hand up, not a handout, and we change lives one family at a time.
Founded in 2015 from a simple idea to help a single family have a better Christmas, Givingmas has grown into a year-round movement rooted in deep relationships, intentional giving, and real results. Since those early days, we’ve supported dozens of families with everything from legal aid and credit repair to career development, financial education, and access to basic needs like transportation.
What sets Givingmas apart is our customized approach. Each family enters the program through a nomination and vetting process and works with our team to create a personalized plan based on their specific needs. Whether it’s clearing old warrants, rebuilding credit, securing stable employment, or learning to budget, we tailor support that matches where they are and where they want to go. Our services are provided in partnership with generous donors, volunteers, and community organizations, but every family also participates in their own success, contributing time, effort, and in many cases, financial investment toward their goals.
Givingmas is powered by a dedicated board, a growing group of ambassadors and volunteers, and an incredibly loyal donor base. We’re proud to call East Dallas our home and even prouder of the community that continues to show up, give generously, and walk alongside families on the path to a better future.
Together, we are building a cycle of community transformation, not just for today, but for generations to come.
Know a family in need of support? At Givingmas, all nominations are anonymous. We do not include any reference to ethnicity, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or other identifiers, because what matters most is the family’s need and commitment to moving forward.
By nominating a family, you become part of their journey toward stability. Together, we can ensure that no one faces tough times alone.
Mark your calendars for Thursday, December 4, 2025, 6-10 pm, for our 11th Annual Day of Givingmas! Each year, we gather as a community to celebrate generosity, share stories of impact, and extend a helping hand to families in need.
This special day is more than a fundraiser—it’s a reminder of what happens when compassion meets action. Join us for stories, games, and giving opportunities that change lives right here in North Texas.
Don’t miss updates, family stories, and ways to get involved. Subscribe to our newsletter to stay connected with Givingmas year-round.
Change Lives... One Family at a Time
At Givingmas, our mission is to strengthen communities by identifying and supporting families who are actively working to overcome hardship. We provide a hand up, not a handout, offering short-term, personalized assistance, connections to compassionate donors and community resources, and practical tools that promote long-term stability and lasting change, one family at a time.
Our Needs: Hand Ups You Can Give
$25 – Resume Support: Help someone strengthen their job applications.
$100 – Transportation Boost: Assist with car repairs or insurance to keep families moving.
$250 – Credit & Financial Coaching: Support mentorship that rebuilds financial stability.
$500 – Job Licensing/Training: Cover the cost of trade school or professional licensing.
$1,000+ – Ongoing Mentorship: Provide months of consistent accountability and coaching for a family.
Every gift makes a tangible difference, providing dignity and stability for North Texas families.
At Givingmas, equity means every family has the same opportunity for support. All of our nominations are reviewed anonymously, with no reference to ethnicity, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, or other identifiers. These factors are irrelevant in our decision-making process, because what matters most is the family’s need and their commitment to moving forward.
We believe in providing a hand up, not a handout—treating each family with dignity, respect, and fairness. By focusing on barriers and solutions rather than labels, we ensure that every family we serve receives support based solely on their unique circumstances and goals.
