Gateway Alliance Project

A nonprofit organization

The Gateway Alliance Project is a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to breaking the cycle of incarceration and building pathways to equity. We empower justice-impacted individuals through advocacy, re-entry programs, and diversion alternatives for at-risk youth.

Pearl’s Place – A SAFE House.  Our newest initiative, Pearl’s Place, provides housing for women returning from incarceration. More than a transitional house, it is a safe, trauma-informed space offering life skills training, employment readiness, family reunification, and peer support to help women heal, rebuild, and achieve lasting independence.

Our Impact Areas

  • Re-Entry & Wrap-Around Services: Helping individuals secure housing, employment, and stability to reduce recidivism.

  • Youth Diversion: Addressing the school-to-prison pipeline with mentorship, education, and positive pathways for Black and Brown girls.

  • Advocacy: Advancing policies that prioritize rehabilitation over punishment and expand second chances.

Why Your Support MattersYour investment provides safe housing, essential resources, and life-changing opportunities to people determined to succeed after incarceration. Together, we can create safer communities and a more just Texas.

Equity Statement

Gateway Alliance Project Equity Statement

At the Gateway Alliance Project (GAP), equity is not an add-on to our mission—it is the foundation of our work. We believe that every person, regardless of past convictions, socioeconomic status, race, gender, age, or zip code, deserves the opportunity to thrive. Our commitment to equity is rooted in lived experience and informed by the understanding that systemic barriers—particularly those tied to mass incarceration—disproportionately impact communities of color, women, and economically disadvantaged populations in Texas.

We center those most impacted.

GAP is a justice-impacted, woman-led organization. Many of our leaders, staff, and volunteers have firsthand experience with the criminal legal system, giving us unique insight into the structural inequities that perpetuate post-conviction poverty. We ensure that those with lived experience are not only participants but decision-makers, shaping our programs, policies, and advocacy priorities.

We practice person-centered, trauma-informed care.

We recognize that individuals reentering the community carry both strengths and scars from their journeys. Our programs are designed to honor personal dignity, affirm cultural identity, and provide support that meets people where they are. From our reentry coaching to youth diversion programs, we embed compassion, active listening, and cultural responsiveness into every service.

We address root causes, not just symptoms.

Equity means removing systemic barriers that restrict access to housing, employment, education, and civic engagement. GAP works to change policies that reinforce permanent punishments, while also building pathways for economic mobility, leadership development, and full community reintegration.

We are accountable to our community.

Equity requires transparency and shared responsibility. We measure our impact not only by the number of people we serve but also by the systemic changes we help achieve. We listen to feedback from participants, partners, and community stakeholders, and we adapt our programs based on their voices.

Our Commitment:

Amplify the voices of directly impacted individuals in decision-making and policy advocacy.

Ensure equitable access to resources, services, and opportunities for all participants.

Challenge and dismantle structural racism, gender bias, and economic exclusion within reentry systems.

Continuously educate ourselves and our partners on equity, inclusion, and anti-oppression practices.

At the GAP, we envision a Texas where second chances are real, justice is restorative, and equity is the standard—not the exception.
