GALT is in its 23rd year of operation and, during that time, has placed over 4000 greyhounds and greyhound mixes into their forever homes.
GALT needs monetary donations to pay for our hounds' medical bills and other expenses. GALT also always needs volunteers and foster homes for our hounds. Please visit our website, www.galtx.org, for more information and to see other ways to help the hounds!
Currently, we are in need of funds to provide three hounds with heartworm treatment so that they can start their search for forever homes. A recent arrival, Reba, also required significant dental work on her arrival. Her veterinary expenses so far have exceeded $3,600. We also need funds to pay for incoming hounds' routine spay and neuter, vaccinations, blood work, veterinary examinations, dentals, microchips and various other needs. Typically, hounds without special issues costs approximately $750 to $1000 in veterinary expenses to be ready to find forever homes. Our adoption fees only cover part of that cost and we rely on North Texas Giving Day to provide funding to make intakes possible all year long. Sometimes, hounds come to us after living stray for sometime and need extensive medical care. We never know when they will come, but we stand ready to assist them with your financial support.
The Greyhound Adoption League of Texas' mission is to facilitate placing greyhounds and sighthound mixes in loving, responsible forever homes and to turn "no greyhound away" regardless of its medical condition.
Donations to cover medical expenses for incoming hounds with injuries or illnesses as well as the routine intake expenses such as spay/neuter, dentals, vaccinations, exams, bloodwork, and microchipping. Foster homes in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area to care for hounds awaiting their forever homes.
