Less than six percent of the nation has served in the military. We know that most of our communities are often not exposed to authentic examples of patriotism and may take our freedom for granted. Exposure to the veteran's ideal "service above self" can inspire lasting, positive community change for generations. That's why for more than 20 years, we have been connecting the veteran ideal of service with students, organizations, and communities. And recently, we have introduced additional meaningful opportunities through PARTICIPATION, EDUCATION, and RECOGNITION that not only give back to our veterans but allow our veterans to give back to you.
The GDVF 2022 theme this year is "Proud to be An American." This theme from Lee Greenwood's famous song "God Bless the U.S.A." emphasizes our freedoms in the United States of America were earned and must be protected.
