Friends of Mineral Wells Shelter Pets was established in 2020 to foster greater community awareness, engagement, and financial support of shelter animals in Mineral Wells. Funds are raised to address the needs not covered by the city budget. This includes essential expenses such as food, medicine, vaccines, heartworm treatment, spaying and neutering, and sponsorships to encourage 501(c)(3) nonprofit rescues to rescue animals from the shelter. Additionally, Friends has collaborated with local businesses to host adoption and fundraising events. Our aim is to keep offering financial support to the shelter while also broadening the services we offer, such as introducing a spay and neuter program.
Every year, we sponsor major surgeries, fund heartworm treatments, and help nurse dogs, cats, and kittens back to health. We need ongoing donations to continue sponsoring medical issues, and to supply basic essentials for the animals at the Mineral Wells Animal Shelter. We also provide transportation to partner rescues, and provide spays and neuters when the shelter budget has been depleted.
