$5,000 Goal

Our organization aims to support and enhance the visual and performing arts education students receive at one of Dallas' first magnet school arts programs. Jesús Moroles Expressive Arts Vanguard (formerly Sidney Lanier) has been the education cradle of many of our city's successful citizens, including Jesús Moroles himself! An arts education is a great foundation for any career as evidenced by the array of schools and careers in which our students have gone on to excel. Currently, Jesús Moroles serves over 700 students in grades PK-8, and Friends of Jesús Moroles aims to impact all of them.

Our Needs

Our organization seeks to provide Jesús Moroles students and teachers with the resources to excel academically and in the arts. Our 2022-2023 priorities include:

1- Supporting this year's visual and performing arts programs with costumes, dance studio mirrors, digital camera for visual arts students, headsets for piano room, portable music stands, band supplies, set design supplies, sheet music, guest artist clinics, and private lessons.

2- Supporting student experiences - transportation to student performances, tickets to local Dallas arts performances, transportation funds for middle schoolers to visit local colleges

3- Core curriculum supplies requested by PK-8 teachers.

Mission

The Friends of Sidney Lanier Expressive Arts Vanguard is proud to announce we are becoming The Friends of Jesús Moroles Expressive Arts Vanguard. During the 2020-2021 school year, parents and community members voted to rename the school after a beloved local and internationally acclaimed artist and former student. The organization was founded in 2017 by parents and community members whose mission is to support the arts and education initiatives of the school to the benefit of all. Strong schools make strong communities, and we believe that starts with the generosity of those who understand that essential truth. Our goals include supporting the visual and performing arts programs, providing funding for educational enrichment products, and strengthening partnerships with other arts and education groups throughout the DFW metroplex. In this way, we aim to be part of helping the school in its mission to provide an exceptional education to all the students it serves.
