Friends of Imagine International Academy of North Texas

Founded in 2012, Imagine International Academy of North Texas is an open-enrollment public charter school located in McKinney, Texas. We are one of very few schools in the United States offering the internationally recognized college preparatory continuum of all three International Baccalaureate programmes (Primary Years Programme for grades K-5, Middle Years Programme for grades 6-10, and the Diploma Programme for grades 11-12) at no cost to families.

Over the last eleven years, the school has obtained International Baccalaureate World School authorization, graduated eight senior classes, and earned a reputation for delivering an outstanding college-preparatory education in the IB tradition across grades K-12.  For the 2022-2023 school year, our 39 graduating seniors received over $4.2M in scholarships and achieved a 100% passage rate for the May 2023 IB examination session, greatly exceeding the international passing average of 79%. 

Students who earn the International Baccalaureate Diploma are eligible for a minimum of 24 hours of college credit at any public institution of higher education in the state of Texas. Our graduates continue to be accepted at the best colleges and universities locally, nationally, and internationally, including schools such as University of Chicago, University of Pennsylvania, the UC System (including Berkeley, Los Angeles, Irvine, and Davis), Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Brown University, University of Toronto, American University, University of Notre Dame, United States Air Force Academy, Boston University, Purdue University, George Washington University, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Baylor University, University of Texas at Austin, and Texas A & M University. Based on our 2021-2022 state test scores, Imagine International Academy of North Texas is in the top 1% of all public-school districts in the state of Texas and is also one of the top four highest-performing charter schools in the entire state under the Texas state standard accountability rating system. Our school continues to exceed the average passing percentage on the state of Texas STAAR/EOC assessments and was designated a US News and World Report Best Elementary, Middle and High School for the 2022-2023 school year. 

Our students also continue to support their local and global communities through service and action. Our Youth and Government Student Organization continues to be recognized as a Distinguished Delegation in the state of Texas, holding key positions such as student governor. Through the IB Community and Personal Projects, our students support a range of organizations and causes through the development of service projects that require research, collaboration and emphasis on critical thinking and organizational skills. Our Junior World Affairs Council continues to raise critical funds in support of demining efforts in Kosovo as well as Red Cross efforts in Ukraine. Our traditional Day of Service, held every Fall, provides opportunities for all students in Grades K-12 to support local food pantries, community organizations such as Streetside Showers, and supply requested items to support various communities in need.
