Nestled within a bustling modern city, the Frankford site is a living window into the past. It features:
What makes Frankford extraordinary is that it remains much as it was over a century ago. In a rapidly developing region, this historic nature preserve is a rare and vital opportunity to teach the community about North Texas history, the cultural legacy of early settlers and Indigenous peoples, and the importance of prairie land conservation.
The Frankford Preservation Foundation is committed to stewarding this land and its stories for future generations. Through:
We ensure that the Frankford Blackland Prairie, Historic Frankford Church, and Indian Springs remain vibrant, meaningful, and protected.
Join us in preserving this unique piece of Texas heritage—your support helps keep Frankford alive for the generations to come.
The mission of the Frankford Preservation Foundation is to protect, preserve, and share a historic five-acre nature and heritage site in the heart of Dallas. This unique landscape includes:
• A rare remnant of the once-vast Blackland Prairie, one of Texas’s most endangered ecosystems
• The natural Indian Springs, a vital water source for early travelers on the historic Shawnee Trail
• The beautifully restored Historic Frankford Church, a late 19th-century Prairie Gothic landmark
We are dedicated to safeguarding this sacred ground—not only for its ecological and historical value, but to educate, inspire, and connect our community through the powerful stories it holds.
Frankford is a sacred, historic site nestled in North Dallas—a rare place where prairie, history, and heritage come together. This North Texas Giving Day, we’re asking for your support to help us preserve and enhance this unique space for generations to come.
