THE MISSION OF THE FINISHING WELL MINISTRIES IS TO HELP EVERY CHRISTIAN OVER 65 YEARS OF AGE TO FULLY UNDERSTAND AND TO FULLY LIVE OUT GOD'S CALL FOR THE REST OF THEIR LIVES.

FWM is an ambitious initiative to change the narrative of aging people in the life of our churches and communities. We see the presence of aging followers of Christ as a growing convoy/band of saints purposing to make a greater difference for Christ throughout their aging years, leaving a legacy outliving themselves which will strengthen the work of Christ for future generations.

We have a vision of reaching the millions of retired Christians, encouraging them with the opportunities that surround us. That opportunity is NOW

“All that God has done in and through you up until this point is merely preparation for all He intends to do in you and through you going forward.”  John Maisel   

The late Dr. Howard G. Hendricks made this important observation; 

"Old age is as important and meaningful a part of God's perfect will as youth. He is interested in both the waxing and waning of life. Just as potential is locked up in young people, and often never developed, so the full possibilities of old age often remain dormant and die with the person. The work of God will be greatly enriched when more attention is given to releasing and utilizing this hidden resource. Older people represent the greatest potential resource and labor pool within our churches, though consistently ignored."

Our mission is to encourage churches to sharpen their mission to older people in their congregations. Our church model needs more emphasis on preparing Christian seniors with a level of wisdom and skill so that the younger generations will view them as "more valuable than silver" and not just that "silver-haired generation."

Let's heed the voice of the late Dr. J. I. Packer (1926–2020, who said it this way; 

“Runners in a distance race… always try to keep something in reserve for a final sprint. And my contention is that, so far as our bodily health allows, we should aim to be found running the last lap of the race of our Christian life, as we would say, flat out. The final sprint, so I urge, should be a sprint indeed” (Finishing Our Course with Joy, pp. 21,22).

Our Needs

We seek to train leaders/facilitators in the local church and senior living residences who will catch a fresh vision for the impact they can have in the life of their local churches and communities. Would you be a leader/facilitator in your congregation and community? We'll invest in you to be that kind of person.

One Person Can Make a Huge Difference

Choose to be a difference maker in your aging years. I think of Queen Elizabeth who died last week at the age of 96. She was a difference-maker to the very end of her life. Isn't that what God desires for each of us? To keep making a difference for Him to the very end of the life which He gave us? The mission of FWM is to keep stirring up individuals who will in turn spur on others in their network to keep pressing on fulfilling every one of God's purposes in these extended years.
